# Setting Up Your Server

> Create your free game server on FreeServer.host in a few clicks and configure the basics before your first launch.

This guide walks you through creating a new server on FreeServer.host, choosing a game and version, and applying the initial settings you need before starting it for the first time.

  <Step title="Open the dashboard">
    Sign in to your FreeServer.host account and open the [Dashboard](https://freeserver.host/servers). Click **Create server** to start a new server.

  <Step title="Pick a game and version">
    Choose the game you want to host and select the version you plan to play. Match the version to the one your players will connect with.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Name and region">
    Give the server a recognizable name and pick the region closest to most of your players for the best latency.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Review and create">
    Confirm the plan and resources, then click **Create**. The server is provisioned and appears in your dashboard within a few seconds.

  <Step title="Start the server">
    Open the new server and click **Start**. Watch the console for the ready message before letting players connect.

<Tip>
  You can rename, restart, or reinstall the server at any time from the dashboard. Reinstalling wipes files, so back up first.
